ASUS Notebooks
Zero defects in zero gravity
R&K, a major supplier of computers and electronic equipment for aeronautical missions into outer space, provided astronauts aboard the MIR Space Station with two ASUS notebooks. Both notebooks ran trouble-free throughout the 600-day stint in space.
"The ASUS notebooks never overheated like some of the ones made by other companies," said Russian cosmonaut Sergei Avdeev. “Thermal flow in space and on Earth is completely different. Only notebooks with the best heat dissipation solutions can survive continuous operation. We turned the notebooks on in the morning and left them on all day without a problem.”
Saving lives from the air
NRMA CareFlight, an emergency medical and rescue helicopter unit operating in New South Wales, Australia, uses ASUS notebooks across different sectors of its services. ASUS notebooks play a critical role in CareFlight’s program aimed at improving survival rates for accident victims suffering from severe head trauma. The mobile computing these notebooks lets CareFlight deliver a medical team on the scene faster than a local ambulance, and could reduce numbers of head trauma-related deaths by 33%.
"All our pilots have been very impressed with the ASUS M5 laptops and amazed at their ability to withstand the vibration of the aircraft, said CareFlight Community Relations Manager Mark Lees. “We are now ready to install ASUS M5 laptops in all our aircraft and link them to the onboard navigation computers."
Surviving the bumps and jumps of a grueling off-road rally
ASUS notebooks were put to extreme ends of the temperature scale during the PATAGONIA 2000 race, which traversed through hot deserts and snow-covered mountains. Tasked to serve as navigation devices, ASUS notebooks excelled thanks to their built-in GPS functionality and ability to display dynamic maps. They also served as tools of communication, providing email and bidirectional video conferencing. “Needless to say, ASUS computers survived the severe conditions of this strenuous voyage well, without a single flaw,” said race organizer Aviv Shweky.
On top of the world
An array of ASUS notebooks, which included the U5, S6 (both leather and bamboo editions), W7 and U1 were selected by a mountaineering team on an expedition to Mount Everest.
At base camp at an elevation of 5,000m above sea level, other notebooks failed to boot up because of the extremely low ambient temperature; but ASUS notebooks continued to operate. As a tribute to eco-friendly technology, expedition team leader Capt. Wang Yongfong took an ASUS U5 notebook with him to the peak. At 8,848m above sea-level, ASUS notebooks became the first in the world to reach the top of Mount Everest.
To the far reaches of the globe
Time and again ASUS notebooks have proven their mettle in the freezing temperatures of the North and South Poles.
On December 16, 2003, acclaimed mountaineers Shi Wang and Jian Liu embarked on an expedition to the summit of the 16,000ft Mount Vinson, the tallest peak in Antarctica, where temperatures were known to drop below -100˚F. The mountaineers brought along with them an ASUS S200N notebook to document their experiences. The S200N met their needs perfectly: it was lightweight and compact, had a large hard disk capacity and could handle the rigors of ascending a mountain.
ASUS Motherboards
The No. 1 Motherboard Manufacturer in the World
ASUS is the number one manufacturer of motherboards in the world, commanding almost a 40% market share of the motherboard business. Over 500 million motherboards have been sold since 1989. Today, one in every three computers houses an ASUS motherboard.
Voted the “Best Motherboard Brand” for six consecutive years
ASUS has been voted the world’s “Best Motherboard Brand” for six consecutive years by readers of Tom's Hardware Guide (THG), a widely-read and respected hardware review website. In many of these polls, which usually draw tens of thousands of voters, ASUS received more than half of the ballots.
The THG Best of Readers' Choice Awards recognize hardware products that exhibit the highest quality design and companies that have provided the best service to users. The awards are considered a hallmark of good product design, performance, quality and value.
The Undisputed Leader in Motherboard Innovation
ASUS is blessed with one of the world’s best Research and Development teams. They constantly push the boundaries of innovation, resulting in features and technologies that have revolutionized the motherboard industry in terms of overclocking potential, stability and power efficiency. Some of these milestones in mainboard development include:
16 +2 Phase Power
ASUS’ revolutionary 16-phase power design utilizes real hardware power regulation to guarantee genuine power efficiency—up to 96% over competing products. ASUS motherboards with this feature draw less power and operate at lower temperatures, without compromising its exceptional level of performance.. This increased efficiency saves the user money, reduces temperatures inside the PC case and extends the life of key components such as the CPU and motherboard.
Energy Processing Unit (EPU)
ASUS’ exclusive EPU is a hardware-based feature that controls six major components: the CPU, VGA card, memory, chipset, hard drives, and the CPU cooler/system fan. Equipped with a database containing all of the Intel CPU profiles, the EPU intelligently identifies and selects the correct profile and calibrates the optimal settings to ensure the best power management.
Express Gate
ASUS' exclusive Express Gate enables the system to go online from bootup in only five seconds. With quick Internet access, users who are always strapped for time will be able to enjoy online video, easily utilize most popular Instant Messengers (IM) applications , check on the weather report or email just before leaving their homes.
Drive Xpert
Drive Xpert is a hardware RAID solution that is ideal for users who need to secure data on their hard drives or enhance hard disk drive performance without the hassle of installing drivers or tweaking settings in the BIOS. With Drive Xpert's user-friendly graphical user interface and dynamic backups, users can easily arrange hard disk backups, or even enhance data transfer rates.
TweakIt
In order to help overclockers build the fastest machines in the shortest time possible, ASUS has developed an innovative overclocking solution: TweakIt. TweakIt enables overclockers to make real-time changes to their systems’ core frequency, voltage and other parameters using the joystick-like control on the motherboard itself—even while a benchmark utility is running. At no point does software come into play; the tweaking is completely hardware-based.
Consistently First-to-market with Products Incorporating the Latest Technologies
As the leader in motherboard innovation, ASUS is constantly at the forefront of technological advances. Over the years, it has laid claim to countless world’s firsts. It was the first manufacturer to introduce motherboards supporting Serial ATA and AGP8X, P4 CPUs of up to 3GHz and beyond, Hyper-Threading Technology, Intel® Core™2 processors, and Windows Vista, among others.
Corporate Vision
ASUS constantly strives to be an integrated 3C solution provider (Computer, Communications, Consumer electronics) that delivers innovations that simplify our customers’ lives and enable them to realize their full potential. ASUS products represent the best that technology has to offer, providing outstanding performance and aesthetics that seamlessly accommodate all lifestyles, anytime, anywhere.
Mission and Philosophy
As a major player in the IT industry, ASUS’ corporate mission is to provide innovative IT solutions that empower people and businesses to reach their full potential. ASUS’ philosophy behind product development—which is to accomplish the fundamentals well first before moving forward—has resulted in a dependable backbone of computer components such as motherboards, graphics cards, and optical storage devices. ASUS has now over 16 product lines, including its industry-redefining Eee and Transformer products, desktop barebone systems, servers, notebooks, handhelds, network devices, broadband communications, LCD monitors, TVs, wireless applications, and CPT (chassis, power supply and thermal) products.
